A BBQ – usually lamb chops or steak & some sausages. I make salads to go with it ahead of time. Sometimes I do a roast in the slow cooker. If it’s children, they always love spaghetti bolognaise.

I am never brave enough to try something new for guests, but I really should broaden my menu a bit. We have some friends over very often & they are probably sick of the same thing here 🙂

I know I’m late in watching this, but I just watched this video & LOVED IT!!! Thank you Jennifer for letting us into your home & being vulnerable enough to share the before pictures as well as the after! This course has been a blessing in my life & I am so thankful for it! 🙂

This was an interesting question for me to ponder, as I would have replied previously “to stay at home with my children”. I guess ultimately I am a homemaker because that is what I believe the Lord would have me do. It is my primary role in life (after wife & mum) & it should be a priority. I am taking this course so I can hopefully continue to refine my skills in this important role!

Congratulations Nogmamme!! I adore big families & think you are abundantly blessed to be able to have eight. We would have loved more ( & still would), but the Lord has not allowed us this blessing yet.

As for feeling alone – I think that is the hardest part of this life. While I am actually surrounded by women who do choose to stay at home (this is a farming community), we are the only people around who homeschool all our children (one lady does one of hers) & no one understands that choice we have made. I feel lonely often & very misunderstood. I tend to stay quiet & get people to talk about themselves because I would never want to share this with the people around. I was blaming the loneliness on the isolation, but I wonder if it’s more because we are choosing something different from the ‘norm’?

Thank you all for sharing your stories. I feel a little less alone 🙂

    Dear Stephanie,
I wish I could give you a hug right now. You are not a failure & doing this course proves that! You are doing all you can to be the very best homemaker possible.

I also strive so hard to be like the Proverbs 31 woman & too often I miss the mark. I really try to be a submissive wife & I struggle in letting my hubby lead. I am a typical type A personality, eldest child so this is really, really hard for me!

Homemaking is something that I am forever trying to get better at. It is so lovely having this group & knowing that we are not alone on our homemaking journey. Please know that I am praying for you & the other ladies in this group!
    Blessings

This is an interesting assignment. While I plan on doing this now, it is the middle of our summer holidays so we are doing things that are not part of our general routine (such as visits to friends & of course no homeschool). I think I will also redo this once we begin back into our school routine in February. It will be very interesting to see exactly where the time goes! Thanks Jennifer 🙂

Yes! It has been very helpful to look at my ideal & realise that what truly matters to me is not cleaning all day everyday, but keeping the home well enough to be healthy, comfortable & welcoming of everyone. I was surprised to realise that while it is important that I have my home clean, being a godly homemaker is more about me & my heart attitude than sticking rigidly to a cleaning schedule. Thanks Jennifer 🙂
