I thought I’d mention that while I am in a stage of doing things more slowly because of all the little ones, my oldest is 9 yo and I have started using a resource with her that has been a huge blessing to us. It has helped me explain to her and go through the process of cleaning….. the bathroom! She has been cleaning it daily for about 2 weeks or more now. I gave her own bucket and supplies, she loves it. I love having a clean bathroom, it gives me peace of mind when I know that area is being taken care of while I simply cannot do it all myself! The resource goes through cleaning the entire house actually, on a daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal basis but I have chosen to do one section (bathroom, kitchen, etc) per month so as to not overwhelm her, or myself. It’s working out really well. She always has had the desire to clean but I was simply too tired to start it with her. This has been so helpful to use. I’ll share it in the resource section if anyone is interested.

I had shared it under Tools and Resources, so I will copy it to here:

Here is the resource I mentioned in the other post that I have been using with my 9 yo daughter. It is A Girl’s Guide to Home Skills by Marmee Dear and Co. You can find it in this link: http://marmeedearandcompany.com/shoppe/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8_47&products_id=17

I think I found out about that company through GraceandTruthBooks.com .

Thanks for sharing! What age would you recommend starting this at? My oldest two daughters are 5 and 4.
I really like Grace & Truth Books, we actually know the owners. Thanks again!

You’re very welcome! I love resources like this one, and I love to let others know about the ones I know of. I hope it will be helpful to you, too!

I think it would be great with any age! It will most likely need to be adapted for use with really young ones, maybe by only giving them some of the chores on the lists to do, and working alongside them which I plan on doing in some areas. If your daughters enjoy helping you they will most certainly love it and benefit from this.

I think that for the most part, the book has helped to give her even more desire for keeping the home and to translate and encourage my vision for our home. It has given me the step by step process in a very easy way to implement it with her. The instructions are even beneficial to me. 🙂
