ParticipantI would like to know if anyone has a toy organizating system that has worked for them? I have tried several different ideas and the toys are still scattered all over my home. I really could use some sucessful systems for this. My kids are ages 5 and under. Thank you!

ParticipantWe have 9 children, and I have found a few things helpful. We do not have a playroom. In the two bedrooms (one girls, and one boys),they have a huge closet we made into shelves to store toys. They do not have many. The toys are in storage bins. Then, in our attic, are extra toys in Rubbermaid totes. I rotate these totes every so often, I will bring one downstairs in the living room. After a month or so, when they get bored, that one goes up, and a new one comes out. Its like Christmas. They get super excited to play with toys they forgot about. This works especially well for my little ones.

ParticipantWe use the ikea expedit shelves. They have cube shaped holes with fabric drawers perfect for toys. For our larger collections such as Thomas train set, duplo, dolls, dress-ups we have plastic wheely bins ( not sure if this is what you call them in the US, perhaps trash bins on wheels). I also have various bookshelves where other toys, games, farm house etc are stored. When all my kids were small, I had a melamine pantry cupboard with a small padlock and chain around the handles. I let out small tubs at a time and kept the rest locked up.

ParticipantWe have all our toys (with the exception of baby dolls, Legos and a few baby toys) in three tubs that we rotate every week or so. The tubs are stored in a closet. We do not have a playroom so this keeps the mess controlled. 🙂 I have five children ages 4 months to 9 years old

ParticipantI have four boys. I learned a long time ago that I needed to streamline their toys. I narrowed down their toys to 4 main groups: Legos, wood train, Matchbox cars and small trucks, and Knex. These toys we have in bulk because we have so many boys. They each have a few Nerf guns as well.
When the boys play, they are allowed to choose one from the above list, for that day and it is easy to clean up at the end of the day. This keeps our home orderly.
